AIA Tampa Award of Merit

The Channelside Parking Garage was designed by James Cornetet while working for HKS Architects. The project was a design-build solution for a 720 car parking structure and cruise ship vehicle staging area. The Channelside Parking Garage received an AIA Tampa Award of Merit in acknowledgment of the structure’s design. The jury awarded the project the Award of Merit because of the difficulty inherit in bringing design to the parking garage typology, the reduction of scale due to the composition and selection of materials, and the structures unique presence at night.

AIA Orlando Award of Honor

The Channelside Parking Garage received an AIA Orlando Award of Honor in acknowledgement of the structure’s design. This is the highest design honor awarded to a project by the AIA Orlando Chapter. The jury awarded the project the Award of Honor because of the difficulty inherit in bringing design to the parking garage typology, the reduction of scale due to the composition and selection of materials, and the structures unique presence at night.
